All parents must earn 24 hours of in-service training each year. Even if you have no foster children placed in your home, you are still required to earn 24 hours of training. If you are a new foster parent this year with our agency, you must earn 2 hours per month since you were approved.  Trainings you attend in the community can count toward your training hours as long as the topic is relevant to foster parenting and you provide proof of attendance. If you need to borrow training materials (books, movies, CDs, etc.) to earn some training credit or to find out about upcoming community trainings, contact Christa Paulosky at 965-8670.

Training Sessions

Upcoming training for new foster parents is scheduled year round. Prospective foster parent trainings are held at our office at 6350 Center Drive, Suite 215, Norfolk, VA 23502.

The following certification trainings are for current foster parents:

December 11, 2010, Saturday 9:00 PM-4:00 PM, CPR and First Aid Training (6350 Center Drive, Suite 215, Norfolk, VA 23502)

January 19, 2011, Wednesday 5:00 PM-9:00 PM, CPR/First Aid Training (6350 Center Drive, Suite 215, Norfolk, VA 23502)
