Listed below are dates for some of our commonly scheduled events, including financial classes, seminars for divorcing and separating parents and foster parent training. Please call to register for any of these programs.

Early Childhood STEP Classes (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting)

For parents of children 1 to 6 years of age. Learn what motivates your child's behavior, some discipline techniques and how to develop respect and cooperation within the child.

Norfolk Classes Held at 222 West 19th Street, Norfolk, VA 23517

When: January 7 - February 18, 2009, Wednesday Nights, 5:30-7:30pm

Portsmouth Classes Held at 1805 Airline Blvd., Portsmouth, VA 23707

When: January 22 - March 9, 2009, Thursday Nights, 6:00-8:00 pm

Virginia Beach Classes - Please contact us if you have an available site

Cost: $50.00 per 7 week session (Fee will be collected during first session)

 Class for First-Time Homebuyers

“Get the Facts Workshop” – Now may be the time to take advantage of the reduction in home prices and consider becoming a homeowner.  These free workshops are made possible by Freddie Mac, Navy Federal Credit Union, and BB&T Mortgage.

Debt Management Class

The Art of Debt Management is offered the first Thursday or third Wednesday of each month from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. at our Norfolk office. Please call Bill Sears at 757.965.8657 to register.

Camp Horizon

This camp for children and adults with disabilities is held from mid-June to mid-August. Visit our Disability Services page for more information.

Senior Fitness

Foster Parent Training

Our foster care staff will be happy to provide an orientation for anyone considering becoming a foster parent. Please call Christa Paulosky at 757.965.8670 for more information. Once an orientation is complete, potential foster parents can pick training sessions that work with their schedules.  Here are the upcoming training sessions:
