<Step Up>

25, 50 or 100 Stories - 580, 1160 or 2320 Steps - You Choose

Step Up is a stair climbing event that will challenge both competitors and non-competitors to walk or run up the 25 flights of steps in Norfolk's Dominion Tower on Waterside Drive. Competitors can chose to run up the 580 steps once or double up and run twice for a total of 50 flights or 1160 steps. Elite athletes and active duty military personnel also have the option of climbing four times, for a total of 100 stories. Prizes will be awarded in a number of categories, including best individual and team times in the competitive categories, as well as the most money raised by an individual and a team. Everyone attending also will have an opportunity to enjoy various festivities taking place during the event. More details are below:

What:	Step Up Stair Climbing Event
When:	Sunday, April 25, 2010 10am-2pm (A full list of events in available on our events page. Noncompetitive participants will be assigned start times) Competitive Participants will race at the following times: 10:15am: 100 Story Climb 11:15am: 50 Story Climb 12:15pm: 25 Story Climb (Competitors must arrive 45 minutes to an hour before their start time to receive their race packets etc.--The start times listed above are when the race begins through the doorways. To compete, you must be on time).
Where:	Dominion Tower 999 Waterside Drive Norfolk, VA 23510 (Free Parking is available in the garage next to the building)
Participants:	500 participants expected, including members of: General Public (children must be 8 or older to climb the stairs) Emergency Responders (firefighters, police EMT) Military Youth Groups Corporate Teams Athletes

Cost:	*Noncompetitive Entry: $25 Competitve Entry* (25, 50 or 100 stories): $35 Walk in registrations during the day of the event will be: $40 noncompetitive & $50 competitive We have set a per person Fundraising Goal (ages 21 and older) of $25.

Step Up will benefit The Up Center, which serves more than 10,000 people in need in Hampton Roads every year. The agency's services give a hand up to families, children and adults facing economic, physical and/or emotional challenges. The agency's programs reach people from infancy to the senior years, providing homes for children who have been abused, mentors for children in need, services for people with disabilities, counseling for veterans contending with post traumatic stress disorder, and so much more.
