The Up Center is offering another round of parenting classes after successfully re-starting one of its Early Childhood education programs. The classes are designed to help guardians of children ages one through six. The program called STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting) includes seven sessions that cover a range of relevant topics:

• Understanding Young Children
• Understanding Young Children's Behavior
• Building Self-Esteem in the Early Years
• Communicating With Young Children
• Helping Young Children Learn to Cooperate
• Effective Discipline
• Nurturing Emotional and Social Development

Our next round of classes will be held at the following locations and times :

Norfolk Classes Held at 222 West 19th Street, Norfolk, VA 23517

When: January 7 - February 18, 2009, Wednesday Nights, 5:30-7:30pm

Portsmouth Classes Held at 1805 Airline Blvd., Portsmouth, VA 23707

When: January 22 - March 9, 2009, Thursday Nights, 6:00-8:00 pm

Virginia Beach Classes - Please contact us if you have an available site

Cost: $50.00 per 7 week session (Fee will be collected during first session)
